Giulio Ciompi, from ONTIER Italy, taught a conference about the “Evolution of the Data Protection Regulation in the EU”

UK
On April 26, Giulio Ciompi, lawyer at ONTIER Italy, was invited as speaker at ONTIER UK’s premises in London to examine the EU Regulation 679/2016 regarding the protection of personal data, which is going to be fully applicable in all EU Member States by 25 May 2018.

The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the United Kingdom (ICCIUK) and was the first opportunity for both ONTIER and the ICCIUK to cooperate. About 30 representatives of important English and Italian companies and legal firms affiliated to the ICCIUK attended the event.

Giulio Ciompi's speech covered many areas of the new EU Regulation, focusing in particular on the differences between the Italian Privacy Code, the new obligations for the companies (controllers and/or processors of personal data) set forth by the EU Regulation and the severe penalties in case of non-compliance with it.

The seminar sought to confirm to all attendants the opportunity to appoint legal advisors to support companies in upgrading and redesigning their privacy policy in order to comply with the rules of the EU Regulation and not to incur in significant sanctions.

At the end of the presentation, Giulio Ciompi also provided all participants with a chart aimed at giving potential customers the main steps to be taken – with relevant timeline – to reach the specific level of protection of personal data required by the EU Regulation.
