Lawbot, the Uber of the Legal Industry, Wins the First Edition of the Lawards

ONTIER teamed up with the Law School’s Global League and the IE Business School to launch the first edition of the Innovation in Law Awards. These initiative seeks acknowledging the work of social innovators promoting an egalitarian access to the justice system.

21 projects were submitted, coming from all around the world, but there were only 2 finalists: LawMate.in, from India, and Click&Report, from Brazil. The winner was Lawbot, from Nigeria. Lawbot is an online platform connecting users and lawyers and providing a meeting point for people that need legal aid but can't afford to pay for professional services, and lawyers willing to contribute. The platform applies an algorithm connecting both parties depending on the matter to be addressed. It makes a safe system which, as explained by Egbuna and Nnaemeka, the founders, 'guarantees non-disclosure between lawyer and client.' An idea they consider to be 'the Uber of the legal industry.'

The first edition of the Lawards focused on acknowledging innovative IT solutions that promote egalitarianism towards an easier access to the justice system for the most disadvantaged groups and communities around the world.

The awards ceremony took place a few days ago as part of the Law School's Global League Annual Conference held at the Autonomous Institute for Technology of Mexico (ITAM), Mexico City.
