Important players in the sector participated in the renewable energies conferences taught in the event
The Renpower Caribbean 2019 event, held in Santo Domingo, was chaired by our colleague Emily Sucart, Lawyer in the Energy area. The event comprised a series of conferences in which different actors of the sector participated, including public officials, generation and development companies, investment funds, banks, technical advisory companies, and law firms, among others.
Emily chaired the conference entitled 'Renewable Energies in the Caribbean: Outlook, Laws and Regulatory Framework.' During the conference, highly topical issues in the current regulation of the sector were discussed, including the adaptation of regulations to the tendering model, the optimisation of procedures, the position of the private generation sector with regards to the current regulation, and the steps taken by international organisations in order to promote energy transition in the Dominican Republic.
Emily was joined by speakers such as Yeulis Rivas, Director of Alternative Sources and Rational Use of Energy at the National Energy Commission (CNE); Christian Baez, Technical Assistant to the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources; Amaury Vasquez, Technical Manager at the Dominican Electric Industry Association (ADIE); and Manuel Coxe, Head of Grid Integration Unit at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) of Germany.
